FF: Tell us a little about yourself, and what you've been up to lately.

KM:  Kate Marie Grinold is the former Miss District of Columbia 2008. On the 24th of January, 2009 she placed in the Top 10 at Miss America 2009.  Kate Marie received her Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from the George Washington University, Elliott School of International Affairs.

 

A lifelong human rights activist, Miss Grinold developed her Miss District of Columbia platform of service to "raise awareness of human trafficking," which she views as the foremost human rights issue of our time.  She continues to work closely with the Polaris Project to combat human trafficking.

 

Miss Grinold has a background in non-profit fundraising and public relations, and currently works in business development for IT.com.

KM: Chapstick, MAC Studiofix, Iphone, headphones, Prada sunglasses, a book, today’s Washington Post,  Ralph Lauren leather flip flops, Kate Spade planner/wallet, and my camera.

KM: Burberry London.

KM: Chunky cocktail rings.

FF: Your favorite piece of clothing is...

KM: Rompers, and maxi dresses. (FF note: And Kate Marie sure looks fabulously fierce rocking those rompers!)

 

FF: Your style icon or inspiration...

KM: Grace Kelly, Katherine Hepburn, and Penelope Cruz.

 

FF: Your favorite decade of fashion is...

KM:  1950s. (FF note: Think GLAMOUR + CLASS, which depicts Kate Marie's timeless beauty.)

 

FF: "I would never be caught wearing..."

KM: Pleather ;)

 

FF: Your shopping philosophy...

KM:  I only ever buy something if I absolutely love it, otherwise, it will sit in the back of my closet unworn.  I’d rather have one expensive dress than ten cheap dresses

FF: Describe your personal style.

KM: I think I’m still finding my personal style.  I’ve always loved extremely girly pink dress with bows and ruffles, but lately I’ve been drawn toward more sophisticated styles.  A symptom, perhaps, of getting older. (FF note: Yet she grows even lovelier...)

 

FF: "Confidence is..."

KM: Confidence is simply BEAUTIFUL.
