The Fabulous Factor Image Icons - OCTOBER 2009

Jen Corey - A symphony of many beautiful melodies...

FF: Tell us a little about yourself, and what you've been up to lately.

J:  I am a 22 year old graduate of American University with a degree in Music: Vocal Performance. I was crowned Miss District of Columbia 2009 on July 12th, and I will be competing for Miss America on January 30th on TLC in Vegas!

My platform, that I will be taking to Miss America is called “Let’s Talk Trash,” and I’m working hard to promote recycling in the District and nationwide. With this, I’m also working with DC Goodwill to show how you can still look fab, help the environment by buying recycled items, save money, and help our community all by shopping at Goodwill.

FF: Items inside your bag...

J: First I have to say that I carry a large bag made out of crocheted recycled plastic bags that I LOVE! Inside you’ll find my iPhone, an external hard drive, a sparkly notebook, 5 shades of lip gloss (I can never decide), and a Nalgene bottle of water!

FF: "I cannot live without..."

J: My iPhone! I am literally on it 24/7. My new favorite app is the “fake caller” app. You can press a button and get a fake phone call. What a lifesaver!

FF: The current song playing in your IPOD...

J: Lynyrd Skynyrd, “Free Bird”

FF: Your current perfume scent is...

J: Ralph Lauren, “Hot”

FF: Your favorite accessory is...

J: Chandelier earrings. They can dress up anything. Plus, I own more pairs than anyone really should. The best ones are from Kohls. No joke. ;-)

FF: Your favorite piece of clothing is...

J: High heels. I’m 5’11”, but I rock 4 inch heels most days. They also serve as a filter. When you’re rocking out at 6’4” you very easily weed out guys who aren’t secure with a tall confident girl. (FF note: This is why we LOVE Jen! Ladies, take her advice!!!)

FF: Your style icon or inspiration...

J: Charlize Theron. She is beautiful and classy every time you see her.

FF: Your favorite decade of fashion is...

J:  The 50s. I love shopping at consignment shops looking for cute little dresses from the 50s.

FF: "I would never be caught wearing..."

J: A scrunchie. Never acceptable.

FF: Your shopping philosophy...

J:  I have a hard time finding things that fit me since I’m 5’11”. I’ve begun to accept the fact that I can buy things in bigger sizes and then get them tailored to fit me correctly.

FF: Describe your personal style.

J: Someone once told me that I look like the girl next door, and the girl every guy wished lived next door. I typically dress in things that are very simple and not too over the top, but keep them clean and neat.

FF: "Confidence is..."

J: Confidence is within. You have to walk around every day being humble to those around you, but thinking “I’m so awesome!” and you will exude the right kind of confidence.
