Angie when she was a little girl... this is when she first discovered FASHION was in her blood
Prior to coming to the Nation's Capital.. Angie was an anchor and reporter for NBC affiliate WIS-TV in Columbia, SC where she picked up an Emmy. Before moving south, Angie worked out west in Hollywood as a top assistant for syndicated program Entertainment Tonight. A military brat (GO ARMY!), Angie loves to volunteer with The Yellow Ribbon Fund to help wounded veterans in the area and their families. She's also done a number of high profile charity fashion shows between DC and NYC. A big supporter of Susan G. Komen.. organizing DC's first Newsbabes Bash for Breast Cancer in 2009. A fun runner,Angie recently completed the Marine Corps Marathon to benefit global non-profit Finish for Kids. The George Mason grad proudly resides in Northern Virginia with her beloved lab rescue, Atticus.
Angie's wedding... She says, "I had a timeless dress made by Oscar de la Renta and added a modern kick-- with those red soles ;) "
FF: Items inside your bag...
A: Um, which one?! I have at least 3 bags usually on me at one time. But... the ONE I can't live without right this minute.... is my Kate Spade tote with my pink MAC Book, banana, herbal cranberry cinnamon tea, stevia, non-dairy creamer, digital cam, mints, wallet, and a Stella & Dot look book.
FF: "I cannot live without..."
A: my digital camera... Like a watch, I feel naked without it. Seriously, there is a moment of panic when I leave it accidentally.
FF: The current song playing in your IPOD..
A: How about on my FM radio? I do a ton of driving, and I'm old school like that. I usually listen to a lot of sports talk radio like WJFK FM...
FF: Your current perfume scent is...
A: I alternate between Chanel Chance (my fave!) and L.A.M.B.
FF: Your favorite accessory is...
A: Andrea ModLash #33.. batting my eyes has never felt so good!
Angie and local radio funny man Samy K at the 2009 Fashion for Paws charity fashion show at the Italian Embassy in DC
FF: Your favorite piece of clothing is...
A: My black lululemon Wunder Under pants
FF: Your style icon or inspiration...
A: I love Donna Reed... she has that mid-century, married ,wholesome, domestic thing going on. She made conservative cute. Currently.. I really want everything Katie Holmes wears.
Burgundy blouse and black pants- at a Party for Elle Magazine editor-- I love to wear local designers. This is one of my faves.. Mirza Mperial by Taimur Baig. http://mirzamperial.com
FF: Your favorite decade of fashion is...
A: The 40's hands down. Look at pics from the past, and the women are like life-size Barbies. Their garb = perfectly tailored; the material so rich; details from the stitching to every button almost perfect! I'm in the biz where you're also looking for the next best suit that's not too crazy but has enough to set yourself apart from the others. Back then, suits were molded to accentuate the curves-- double breasted, big buttons, fabulous texture and patterns on the collars. Flowy blouses cinched at the waist.. big brooches... and the classic cape jacket or trench that ties. Oh.. and you can't forget the fur. It's amazing to think this was a time when the 'glam factor' was toned down due to the war... (FF note: did you catch that lovelies??? Our beautiful Angie just gave you something to think about!!! We adore her mind!)
Newsbabes Bash for Breast Cancer... I thought out of the pink box-- really out. I think my frills knocked people over all night.
FF: "I would never be caught wearing..."
A: a mini skirt.
FF: Your shopping philosophy...
A: Splurge and Purge! I believe you should NEVER really throw anything away. Just put it away and let time pass. You'll see that at one point you can find a way to wear it. I do this often, taking out an old blouse.. .and pairing it up with a recent splurge.. say, on an accesory. I have a shed filled with boxes of clothes. I revisit it every now and then, and it feels like Christmas sometimes. (FF note: You can't beat that kind of resourcefulness <3)
FF: Describe your personal style.
A: Dress for the occasion, and dress appropriately. I am curvy so I realize that not everything in style is going to be “in” on me. So, I try to find ways around it to show that I still have edge. I tend to be drawn to bright colors, bows, peter pan collars, buttons, and shift dresses. But when I'm on my own... you'll most likely catch me in my wunder under pants tucked in uggs, and an oversized sweater + South Carolina baseball cap.
FF: "Confidence is..."
A: something that requires EFFORT. You have to want to feel good about yourself to exemplify that. In a world where women have so many societal pressures, it's easy to lose sight of your self-worth. I don't wake up every day feeling great about myself... I often have to remind myself about the reasons I deserve to.. it works usually about 95% of the time.
