Ashley Dixon - An Intimate Interview with Miss VA International 2009

There's something about ASHLEY!

FF: Tell us a little about yourself, and what you've been up to lately.

A: I’ve been living in Northern VA since I was 5 years old.  I went to the United States Air Force Academy for my first semester of college, but after I realized that it wasn’t the career path that I wanted to be on, I left and transferred to George Mason University.  I majored in English, with a minor in Business.  Right now I’m starting to apply to law schools because I want to become a criminal prosecutor.  This past winter, I was incredibly blessed and honored to be crowned Miss Virginia International.  Since then, I’ve been promoting my platform of environmental awareness as a spokesperson for Kids for Saving Earth, an international non-profit organization that teaches kids about how they can protect the planet.

FF: Items inside your bag...

A: Cell phone, chapstick, Victoria’s Secret Beauty Rush lip gloss in Mango Madness (it’s so delicious!), wallet, keys, eyeliner, nail polish, Franklin Covey planner, notebook, pens, paperback book…it’s a big bag.

FF: "I cannot live without..."

A: A good book.  I’m always reading, even if it’s just a page or two while I’m pumping gas or on my lunch break.

FF: The current song playing in your IPOD...

A: Jason Mraz and Colby Caillat “Lucky”

FF: Your current perfume scent is...

A: Rock’ N Rose by Valentino

FF: Your favorite accessory is...

A: Any big, sparkly chandelier earrings

FF: Your favorite piece of clothing is...

A: My white tank top with gold zebra stripes.

FF: Your style icon or inspiration...

A: Anyone who has a classic, timeless style, like Audrey Hepburn.  A more modern inspiration is Natalie Portman.  She always looks classy, but with a little bit of sexy too.

FF: Your favorite decade of fashion is...

A: I don’t really have a favorite, but I love the “Old Hollywood glamour” look of the 1950s.

FF: "I would never be caught wearing..."

A: Uggs with sweatpants.

FF: Your shopping philosophy...

A: I always look for what my mom calls “the WOW factor”.  If I don’t look in the mirror and say “WOW!”, and think that the outfit was made just for me, then I’m not going to buy it.  But at the same time, always remember that anything can be altered to fit you perfectly…and then it becomes “custom-made”! (FF note: "the WOW factor" is a synonym of The Fabulous Factor ;p)

FF: Describe your personal style.

A: Hahaha, I don’t really have a personal style.  My clothes change dramatically based on the mood I’m in or what I’m doing that day. Some days I’ll wear a cute sundress and all the accessories just to go to the grocery store.  Other days, I’ll rock yoga pants and a tank top.

FF: "Confidence is..."

A: Loving yourself for who you are.  If you’re comfortable with yourself and love who you are, you’re unstoppable!  (FF note: Ashley is UNSTOPPABLE, and this is why we love her!)

Ashley will be competing in The Miss International Pageant in Chicago, IL on July 24 -25.

We are so proud of you!
